Title: Classical music
Post by: warfreak on July 11, 2008, 11:15:58 pm
The forum hasn't been getting much activity lately. :(

So here I am, making another thread! It's about classical music this time. Do you guys like it? I, for one, really love classical music, except I don't know which pieces are good/which to listen to. Right now, my favorites are Liszt's La Campanella, Schubert's Ave Maria, and Pachelbel's Canon. They're really popular, so I got to listen to them >.< What about you? I would love to hear which pieces are good so we can all listen more. We can also use this thread to discuss Classical music in general and to compare it with *shock* modern music. >D

My favorite composer is Maurice Ravel.

One of his compositions is the "Rhapsodie Spagnole". It's completely beautiful!!!!

Another piece is called "Habanera", there are "versions" for piano at 4 hands, sax and orchestra, and I think there is one arrangement for flute but I haven't heard this one yet. Also I think there is one vocal arrangement. There should be others. I recomend hearing this truly awesome piece !

I like Beethoven a lot. His "Moonlight Sonata" is one of my favorites. But another of my favorite composers is Bela Bartok. I'm currently learning some of his Romanian Folk Dances on piano. Here's what they all sound like(I'm not actually playing, my piano teacher brought me a disk with all six of the songs I'm learning on it, they're all in one convinient file(yay!)):

I love classical music, although if you want to be more technical, I love romantic-era more (Chopin, Berlioz, etc. Yes, I know, I'm very technical. I spent years in music school learning about composers, pieces, and the difference between Baroque, Classical and Romantic :p)

Chopin is my personal favourite (even if he was the emo of the 19th century). Beautiful piano pieces. Best one is Prelude in E minor op. 28 no. 4
